As a key member of RAINN's Victim Services team, the NSAH volunteer program coordinator will be responsible for coordinating NSAH volunteers to ensure the provision of high quality services on the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline.  The NSAH volunteer program coordinator will coordinate communication between staff and volunteers, lead volunteer retention efforts, track volunteer hours and logistics, and provide ongoing training as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The NSAH program coordinator will provide the following services to RAINN:

  • Manage all communication efforts with active volunteers and identify and implement strategies to create and maintain a strong sense of community;
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers to find solutions to increase volunteer satisfaction and commitment; ensure effective working relationships between staff and volunteers;
  • Liaise with the volunteer program manager and RAINN's technology team to improve efforts to maintain records of volunteer hours;
  • Develop processes to collect, analyze, and interpret data trends within the volunteer program;
  • Participate in strategic discussions and planning around the growth of the volunteer program;
  • Address volunteer/supervisor concerns relating to hotline interactions  and/or adhering to volunteer policy;
  • Plan and facilitate monthly volunteer in-service meetings;
  • Plan and facilitate volunteer debrief sessions;
  • Liaise with volunteer program manager to create and update policies governing quality-related issues;
  • Lead a monthly check in with volunteer liaisons and other communications as needed.
  • Collaborate with volunteer program manager to coordinate volunteer schedule based on hotline operational needs;
  • Collaborate with NSAH volunteer program manager and NSAH volunteer recruitment coordinator to ensure recruitment and training efforts are strategically timed;
  • Assist with coordination of onboarding as needed;
  • Coordinate monthly and annual volunteer appreciation events and activities;
  • Provide feedback to NSAH Management team regarding additional training topics or suggested revisions to trainings;
  • Support all NSAH hotline staff and help create positive and productive remote work environment;
  • Respond and remediate concerns regarding volunteer performance; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Specific Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience;
  • 2+ years experience in the field of social services, or crisis hotline/intervention experience (paid or volunteer work);
  • Experience developing program policies;
  • Possess ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with visitors, general public and other employees within the organization;
  • Possess high level of organization and attention to detail;
  • Must feel comfortable providing constructive feedback to diverse group of individuals;
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, direct customer service;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when faced with complex decisions;
  • Resiliently positive and energetic attitude, with the ability to successfully work on a team and independently;
  • Must be comfortable discussing issues surrounding sexual violence;
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check administered by RAINN.

The following physical activities described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and expectations:

  • Must be able to travel via air and train 10% of the time
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time;
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • Must be able to operate a computer (typing 35-45 wpm with accuracy) and other office productivity machinery (e.g., copier and fax machine);
  • Must have vision correctable to a level where individual can operate a computer; visualize text on a computer monitor.

Environmental Conditions

There are no harmful environmental conditions that are present for this position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
