RAINN's Victim Services Department is seeking a qualified intern to work within and contribute to the National Sexual Assault Hotline affiliate and resources program. The position will be part-time or full-time and is unpaid. Academic credit may be arranged. The internship will primarily focus on our affiliate network and hotline resources. This work will support the NSAH in continuing to build a robust bank of resources used to support survivors of sexual assault. This role will also support the affiliate and resources manager in managing our partnerships with over 1000 local affiliates, to ensure our referrals are up to date and accurate. 

College or graduate students studying Public Health, Social Work, Gender Studies, Political Science, or Public and/or Non-profit Administration are encouraged to apply. However, all areas of study are welcome. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance in corresponding with RAINN affiliates.
  • Identify resources that support hotline needs.
  • Identify local affiliates and national organizations for potential partnerships.
  • Provide assistance in organizing and maintaining a hotline resource database.
  • Support the updating of resource listings through organizational contacts.
  • Collect regional demographic and population data.
  • Complete 40 hours of crisis intervention training.
  • Provide crisis support through the online hotline.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications/Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required: 

Required Qualifications

  • Expressed interest in working in the anti-sexual violence field.
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal & written.
  • Computer proficiency including instant messaging.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive issues and information.
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).
