As a key member of RAINN's Victim Services management team, the National Sexual Assault Hotline (NSAH) volunteer recruitment coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and organizing national volunteer outreach and recruitment efforts for the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline. The Volunteer recruitment coordinator will also oversee on boarding efforts for the NSAH volunteer and intern classes.

A successful candidate will exhibit great initiative and creative problem-solving skills. The volunteer recruitment coordinator is a fast-paced role that would appeal to someone who thrives in a team atmosphere and finds joy in communicating with audiences across the country. As the face of RAINN's volunteer recruitment, this person should be a champion for non-judgmental and trauma-informed service to survivors and embrace the diverse experiences and communities of all hotline visitors and volunteers.

  • Coordinate the supplemental staff recruitment program including, but limited to:
    • Volunteers:
      • Work with the NSAH volunteer program manager to develop and oversee ongoing recruitment processes for volunteer classes (minimum of six per year)
      • Track, review and follow up with potential volunteers throughout the application and training process as needed
      • Facilitate information sessions for interested applicants (minimum of four per year)
      • Collaborate with Human Resources department and the Training program throughout a volunteer's training and on boarding process
      • Coordinate training schedule for online onboarding training sessions
    • Interns:
      • Coordinate recruitment and hiring processes year-round for all intern trining
      • Support the screening of applicants and provide information and support to candidates through the hiring process
      • Track online training process as needed
      • Coordinate training schedule for online training sessions
  • Collaborate with NSAH volunteer program manager and NSAH program manager to ensure recruitment efforts are strategically timed.
  • Identify partnerships in cities across the United States to maximize the number of volunteer applicants.
  • Travel to recruit volunteers nationwide, as needed.
  • Maintain validity of all data points associated with volunteer recruitment and training.
  • Work with the Human Resources department to recruit at external events, such as volunteer or intern fairs.
  • Coordinate with the communications, technology, and human resources departments to advance recruitment efforts.
  • Create a positive and productive working environment for volunteers at RAINN.
  • Support training efforts as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of RAINN's policies and protocols, including NSAH specific policies and protocols and the volunteer manual.
  • Coordinate supplement volunteer appreciation, information events, and activities as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, including: weekly meetings with direct supervisor, and monthly all staff meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications/Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have 2+ years experience working or volunteering with crisis intervention services, or related experience
  • Experience training or organizing small and large groups of adults.
  • Possess a drive to be a spokesperson for RAINN's efforts in order to exponentially build out an online volunteer workforce.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when faced with complex decisions.
  • Possess a drive to proactively and effectively communicate creatively with potential volunteers to ensure their completion of our volunteer onboarding process.
  • Must be comfortable presenting in front of large audiences
  • Ability to communicate effectively through online platforms
  • Must have professional writing skills that aid in communicating to wide, external audiences
  • Must be familiar with instant messaging;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure during stressful situations; ability to handle shifting and multiple priorities;
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a wide range of situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions-written and oral.
  • Must possess a positive and energetic attitude, with the ability to successfully work on a team and independently;
  • Willingness to work a non-traditional schedule, which will include occasional evenings and/or weekends/holidays;
  • Must be comfortable discussing issues surrounding sexual violence;
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check (administered by RAINN);
  • Bachelor's degree required;

Desired Qualifications

  • 1+years experience managing paid or unpaid staff (managing employees who work in shift is preferred).
  • Native or professional proficiency in Spanish strongly preferred
  • 2+ years experience in the field of social services;
  • Experience working with staff who have varying levels of professional experience;
  • Experience with relationship building and fostering collaboration among a diverse workforce.
