The development assistant is responsible for providing direct support to the development team in ensuring effective fundraising strategies and tactics are maintained. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the development assistant has duties that include, but are not limited to:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the general development email inbox and respond where appropriate to support our Donor Care Services.
  • Support the Development Associate with all duties to maintain and update the supporter database and donor records.
  • Support the support the Vice President of Development and development team in all communications and special projects related to fundraising efforts.
  • Conduct and update development-related research with a particular focus on supporting the Major Gifts team.
  • Maintain our peer-to-peer platform and support and expand the relationship with our network of volunteer fundraisers and manage all volunteer-led campaigns.
  • Maintain inventory of all development materials and order new copies as needed.
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support to development team to include travel planning and calendar support/scheduling.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications/Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

Required Qualifications:

  • Solid working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other customer relationship management system.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and balance quickly shifting priorities.
  • Exemplary organizational skills.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly creative, flexible, adaptable and a self-starter.
  • Personal commitment to RAINN's mission and values.
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive information and ability to discuss issues surrounding sexual violence.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Interest in a fundraising career a plus.
