As a key member of the victim services team, the Sr. Content Developer and Facilitator will support the victim services and training team by writing content (and/or revising content) for new self-paced and online blended training modules, training materials, and other ongoing training for RAINN hotline staff and volunteers. This position will conduct focused research to identify the appropriate content and write specific curriculum content based on the identified training needs. This position will also review and edit training content to deliver high quality tailored final products by specified deadlines, and support live facilitation of training sessions as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Research & writing

  • Collaborate with the Training Curriculum and Design Manager, the Jr. Content Developer and Facilitator, and Training and Facilitation Specialist to create and deliver effective and engaging instructional content.
  • Maintain an expertise in effectively training staff to provide services to victims of sexual violence. Training and services must be research-based and consistent with best practices in the fields of crisis intervention and sexual violence prevention and response.
  • Develop at least 50% of curricula for e-learning training products that are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Review materials developed by Training Curriculum and Design Manager and Jr. Content Developer and Facilitator.
  • Write engaging instructional materials including assessments and quizzes, practice exercises with appropriate feedback, simulations, demonstrations, case studies, procedural steps, descriptions of concepts/processes/principles, opportunities for reflection and self-explanation, and overviews.
  • Research a variety of health/wellness and crisis response related topics related to sexual violence, and distill the most relevant material and recommendations.
  • Ensure overall editorial quality of training materials developed to include:
    • Incorporating input from and the perspective of key stakeholders within the Victim Services Department.
    • Compliance with all federal regulations and guidelines and adherence to internal and client standards.
    • Conduct formative research to identify content to include in training modules.
  • Ensure that training for hotline staff and volunteers are developed to account for the operational needs of the hotlines.

Training evaluation

  • Report on progress, challenges, and needs and help identify potential solutions to Training Curriculum and Design Manager and Training Director
  • Based on data mentioned above, recommend advanced and leadership level curriculum for RAINN staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct regular training evaluations through surveys, interviews, and other tools to document new and ongoing needs of staff and volunteers, in collaboration with hotline management staff.
  • Integrate findings from training evaluations into training development.
  • Review and edit training materials for content, clarity, consistency, grammar, format, organization, and instructional efficacy.

Live facilitation

  • Facilitate no less than 30% of the live learning sessions taking place according to scheduled times, which may be on occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Support in the development of live training materials as needed.
  • Collect key information during facilitation to share with stakeholders in order to make decisions regarding learners.
  • Report information on live training sessions to the Training Facilitation Specialist and the Training Director.

This position will be expected to fulfill all other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications/Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish.
  • 5+ years experience in the field of social services, crisis hotline/intervention experience, or related experience.
  • 3+ years professional experience in curriculum development, training/education, and writing course content.
  • 1+ years delivering training, assessing training needs, and developing content for trainings around public health including sexual violence, domestic violence.
  • Basic understanding of Learning Management Systems including adding and removing users, creating reports, and uploading files.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a project management role, with an ability to establish and document processes, and managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience implementing health education theories and principles and user-centered design methods when developing content or tools for web and print.
  • Experience conducting user or audience research.
  • Experience editing instructional training content that conforms to stated learning objectives.
  • Demonstrable experience designing e-learning that is accessible to people with disabilities, diverse educational levels and experience with technology, those for whom English is not a first language, and more.
  • Experience developing content for audiences with limited crisis support experience into plain language
  • Experience facilitating training for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with federal plain language guidelines and best practices.
  • Experience executing high-level editing and writing with limited supervision.
  • Strong grammar skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to confidently make independent editorial decisions and be responsible for assigned tasks and work products.
  • Must feel comfortable providing and receiving constructive feedback to and from a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work both independently, as a member of highly integrated teams, and as part of a large Victim Services Department.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to proactively resolve issues in a diplomatic, flexible, and constructive manner.
  • Provide "all-hands-on-deck" support to the training team as needed.
  • Must be comfortable discussing issues surrounding sexual violence.
  • Must be able to attend meetings and trainings on-site as required.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).


  • Bachelor's degree in education, communication, public health, social service, or a related field.
  • Previous education/ training or certification on sexual violence issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in communication, education, public health, social service, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Veterans will be given priority.
  • Proven experience developing content for comprehensive anti-sexual violence trainings.
  • Experience in the fields of health education, workforce development, and/or social justice or human rights.
  • Sexual Assault Advocate/Counselor Training (SAACT).
  • DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification Program (D-SAACP).
  • Master Training Specialist Certification, ASTD Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), and/or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
