RAINN's Consulting Services (CS) department is hiring a consultant to support its work with organizations seeking to improve their prevention and response to sexual misconduct. This is a fully remote position, but does require a willingness and ability to travel.

The Consultant we are looking for is an experienced professional looking for the opportunity to apply their exceptional skills in service of a mission they believe in. They will use a victim-centered and trauma-informed approach to work closely with RAINN staff and clients to develop and deliver trainings and other educational content, and to review and strengthen clients sexual misconduct policies and prevention response strategies.

RAINN is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization and the leading authority on sexual violence. We develop and provide best-in-class services for survivors, inform and educate the nation about sexual violence and how to prevent it, improve the public policy and criminal justice response to these crimes, and help organizations improve their policies and programming with regard to sexual violence. Since 1994, through the National Sexual Assault Hotline and our other programs, RAINN has helped more than 3.7 million people affected by sexual violence.

About the job

As a consultant on RAINN's CS team, you will work closely with clients and with your RAINN team members in a highly entrepreneurial environment, and help to effect transformative societal change, one client organization at a time. Fully embedded within a non-profit organization, the CS team's commitment to furthering RAINN's mission is at the core of our purpose. We know that we can make the greatest consultative impact through collaboration with our clients and by leveraging our wide-ranging functional competencies while drawing from RAINN's deep subject matter expertise in sexual violence. Our team is packed with consultants with diverse backgrounds and specialties-lawyers, MBAs, public health experts, data scientists, researchers, business analysts, trainers/educators, social workers, trauma therapists, and victim advocates who focus on a single practice area: sexual misconduct awareness, prevention and response.

You will take ownership of projects, or phases of larger projects, and client deliverables. You will make significant contributions to the analysis, design, development, and implementation of training, recommendations, and solutions, working closely with clients to understand the challenges of their unique operating environments to ensure positive impact and sustainable results.

Applicants must:

  • Have five or more years of professional experience, with a proven record of outstanding performance and substantial achievements.
  • Have three or more years experience in sexual violence prevention or victim services in fields such as social work, child welfare, law enforcement, education, law, or public health. Business professionals with experience in sales, consulting, and business development will also be considered.
  • Possess exceptional analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills.
  • Be proficient and comfortable writing about and discussing issues related to sexual violence.
  • Have strong communication skills, both oral and written, with an ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and persuasively.
  • Have a high attention to detail.
  • Be organized and have excellent time management, with an ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
  • Be able to work well under pressure and maintain composure during stressful situations.
  • Be able to solve problems and deal with a wide range of situations and clients.
  • Be able to successfully work on a collaborative team and independently, and be able to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
  • Have experience managing other people and project teams.
  • Be comfortable wearing a number of different hats (often at the same time), based on the myriad requirements of client project work-researching, developing, and presenting training content; facilitating strategic planning discussions; conducting data analysis; crafting actionable recommendations; and more.
  • Be willing to, at times, work a non-traditional schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
  • Be willing and able to travel to RAINN's DC headquarters and to clients, as needed. Be in possession of, or willing to secure, valid identification for both domestic and international travel.
  • Be willing and able to complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN)
  • The possession of an advanced degree in social work, psychology, counseling, law, education, public health, business, or a related field is strongly preferred.
