The Safe Helpline Communications Program Manager will be responsible for collaborating with the Department of Defense (DoD) Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO) and military services to support the management of the Safe Helpline. The Safe Helpline Communications Program Manager will report to the Director, Safe helpline Strategic Planning & Collaboration.

This is a full-time position, exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary liaison with DoD SAPRO and with RAINN Safe Helpline staff to ensure daily Safe Helpline operations run smoothly and are consistent with contract requirements.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all contract deliverables (e.g. monthly reports, communications campaigns, and website reviews, among other deliverables).
  • Manage project timelines, working with RAINN and DoD SAPRO employees as necessary.
  • Facilitate Safe Helpline meetings internally to RAINN and externally with DoD SAPRO.
  • Collaborate in drafting memos and documents for DoD review.
  • Conduct/deliver standard briefings on Safe Helpline services and initiatives at events and conferences (Safe Helpline 101, Safe Helpline 102, Safe Helpline 103, Local Safe HelpRoom), alongside the Director of strategic Planning and Collaboration and the Safe Helpline Marketing Coordinator.
  • Draft monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, with assistance of the Safe Helpline Marketing Coordinator.
  • Ensure consistency of language and compliance of policies with contract and DoD SAPRO requirements in trainings, web content, promotional materials, and other documents.
  • Maintain relationships with POC's on DoD bases and installations, VA entities, and relevant civilian organizations.
  • Maintain knowledge of SAPRO and other military policies and protocols and related laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrate specialized Safe helpline knowledge and sexual assault victim service skills.
  • Participate in and provide staff training related to the responder verification process.
  • Work 2 days/week at SAPRRO office (When in-office returns post-COVID).
  • Ability to travel as necessary once advisable (approximately 20%).
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and respond after hours as needed.
  • Must have or receive PMP certification.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Position Specifications/Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • proven track record of success in a client-facing role.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations, and ability to effectively communicate in writing.
  • Experience building new relationships at all seniority levels within an organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to successfully work on a team, and independently.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure during stressful situations, handle shifting and multiple priorities, solve problems, and exercise good judgement when faced with complex decisions.
  • Comfort discussing sexual violence issues.
  • Must complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Experience working in or with the Department of Defense (DoD), military, or in a project management/communications role on a government contract.
  • Veterans: those with Department of Veterans Affairs or VA MST Coordinator experience will be given priority.
  • Extensive knowledge of military services and protocols.
  • Crisis hotline/intervention experience desired.
