As a key member of RAINN's Victim Services management team, the NSAH Volunteer Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring high quality services of the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline by overseeing and providing strategic guidance for the volunteer, intern, and federal work study programs. The NSAH Volunteer Program Manager will oversee the recruitment efforts, training, ongoing skill development for NSAH volunteers, and the day-to-day operations of the NSAH support staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The NSAH Volunteer Program Manager will provide the following services to RAINN:

Oversee the NSAH support staff including, but not limited to, recruitment, hiring, training and ongoing quality assurance:

  • Lead departmental efforts to advance an ambitious volunteer recruitment effort, onboarding hundreds of new volunteers every year for the next several years;
  • Oversee improvements to volunteer hiring and onboarding process;
  • Coordinate promotion of volunteer positions with the Communications Department;
  • Direct efforts to liaise with universities, corporations, organizations, or similar recruitment sites to execute recruitment efforts nationwide;
  • Oversee the establishment and execution of plans to retain and ensure high-performance quality of volunteer service;
  • Lead efforts with pro-bono partners to establish volunteer pipelines to the National Sexual Assault Hotline
  • Work closely with NSAH staff management team to ensure full coverage of the National Sexual Assault Hotline 24/7;
  • Provide oversight of volunteer hotline schedule to coincide with peak hours on the OHL;
  • Oversee intern recruitment and hiring process for summer, fall and spring;
  • Hold semi-annual check-ins with intern team;
  • Provide oversight of intern hotline schedule to coincide with peak hours on the OHL;

  • Coordinate volunteer and intern training schedule with NSAH staff management team;
  • Liaise with RAINN Training department to adjust training based on hotline feedback or needs;

Position Specific Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • 3+ years managing large group (at least 300) volunteers;
  • 3+ years experience in the field of social services, crisis hotline/intervention experience (paid or volunteer work);
  • Experience developing program goals and policies, and expanding or managing a remote team;
  • Must feel comfortable seeking and creating a wide array of local and national partnerships;
  • Professional written and oral proficiency in Spanish, strongly preferred;
  • Possess ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-­to-­person and small group situations with visitors, general public and other employees within the organization;
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, direct customer service;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when faced with complex decisions;
  • Resiliently positive and energetic attitude, with the ability to successfully work on a team and independently;
  • Must be comfortable discussing issues surrounding sexual violence;
  • RAINN is currently remote due to Covid-19 however must be able to work on-site at RAINN's office and attend meetings as required (When in-office returns post-COVID).
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).
  • Upon hire, must provide proof of vaccine (Covid-19).

Desired Qualifications

  • Spanish language skills strongly preferred.

Environmental Conditions

This position is based in Washington, DC. Please note that RAINN employees are currently working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. Must be able to work onsite when in-office returns post-COVID.
