As a key member of RAINN's Victim Services management team, the National Sexual Assault Hotline (NSAH) volunteer onboarding coordinator will be responsible for onboarding and outreach to volunteer candidates in training for the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline. The NSAH volunteer onboarding coordinator (VOC) will also oversee onboarding efforts for the NSAH volunteer and intern classes accompanying them as they enroll in the online hotline's Essential Skills (ES) training.

A successful candidate will exhibit great initiative and creative problem-solving skills. The volunteer onboarding coordinator is a fast-paced role that would appeal to someone who thrives in a team atmosphere and finds joy in communicating with audiences across the country. As the face of RAINN's volunteer onboarding process, this person should be a champion for non-judgmental and trauma-informed service to survivors and embrace the diverse experiences and communities of all hotline visitors and volunteers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the NSAH volunteer program manager, NSAH program manager, and NSAH coaching senior shift manager to create volunteer onboarding process and workflow.
  • Maintain knowledge of RAINN's policies and protocols, including NSAH specific policies and protocols and the volunteer manual.
  • Assist the volunteer recruitment coordinator in reviewing and vetting volunteer applicants as needed.
  • Collaborate with the volunteer recruitment coordinator (VRC), training team, and coaching team as the volunteer candidates move through the ES training process.
  • Meet weekly with volunteer coaching manager to track and monitor volunteer progress through onboarding.
  • Manage volunteer onboarding schedule to ensure new volunteers are on track to complete each step of the training and coaching process.
  • Facilitate onboarding sessions for volunteer cohorts, including:
    • Volunteer program orientation
    • Self-care as an NSAH volunteer
    • Service protocol review and practice.
  • Provide support and feedback to volunteer candidates throughout the training process for the National Sexual Assault Hotline.
  • Establish communication strategy to keep new volunteers engaged during their training and onboarding process.
  • Evaluate volunteer onboarding processes on a rolling basis and make regular improvements to increase the rate of volunteer success and retention.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive working environment for volunteers at RAINN.
  • Support management and execution of volunteer appreciation efforts.
  • Serve as a back up essential skills live learning session facilitator.
  • Attend staff meetings, including:
    • weekly meetings with direct supervisor,
    • weekly meetings with volunteer management team,
    • monthly volunteer in-service meetings,
    • regular cross-team collaboration meetings with training team and other members of NSAH management, and
    • monthly RAINN all staff meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications/Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; or equivalent work experience.
  • Fluent in written and oral Spanish and English and able to pass a proficiency test given during the interview process.
  • Experience working with Spanish-speaking communities.
  • Must have 2+ years experience working or volunteering with crisis intervention services, or related experience
  • Native or professional proficiency in Spanish
  • Experience organizing small and large groups of adults.
  • Possess a drive to be a spokesperson for RAINN's efforts in order to exponentially build out an online volunteer workforce.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when faced with complex decisions.
  • Possess a drive to proactively and effectively communicate creatively with potential volunteers to ensure their completion of our volunteer onboarding process.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through online platforms.
  • Must have professional writing skills that aid in communicating to wide, external audiences
  • Must be familiar with instant messaging;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure during stressful situations; ability to handle shifting and multiple priorities;
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a wide range of situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions-written and oral.
  • Must possess a positive and energetic attitude, with the ability to successfully work on a team and independently;
  • Willingness to work a non-traditional schedule, which will include occasional evenings and/or weekends/holidays;
  • Must be comfortable discussing issues surrounding sexual violence;
  • RAINN is currently remote due to Covid-19 however must be able to work on-site at RAINN's office and attend meetings as required (When in-office returns post-COVID).
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).
  • Upon hire, must provide proof of vaccine (Covid-19);

Desired Qualifications

  • 1+years experience managing paid or unpaid staff (managing employees who work in multiple shifts is preferred).
  • 2+ years experience in the field of social services;
  • Experience working with staff who have varying levels of professional experience;
  • Experience with relationship building and fostering collaboration among a diverse workforce.

Environmental Conditions

This position is based in Washington, DC. Please note that RAINN employees are currently working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. Must be able to work onsite when in-office returns post-COVID.
