Position: West Coast Leadership Gifts Officer

Reporting to: Chief Development Officer

The West Coast Leadership Gifts Officer executes a regional strategy to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects, building a robust prospect pipeline and developing a strong relationship with RAINN's current supporters by executing the moves management process. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the West Coast Leadership Gifts officer has duties that include but are not limited to:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Along with the Senior Director of Leadership Gifts, create a regional strategy to raise revenue through major, planned, principal and corporate gift to meet organizational goals
  • Utilize prospect research platforms to create pipelines of individuals and corporations that can make 6-8 figure leadership gifts
  • Train other RAINN staff members on how to do an elevator pitch for fundraising
  • Write gift proposals to high-net-worth individuals and corporations, create cases for support
  • Track all proposals and reports to ensure deadlines are met and planned for
  • Use the moves management system to prioritize donor outreach
  • Conduct in person solicitations
  • Manage a portfolio of 100-200 current and prospective major donors
  • Develop and coordinate regional events.
  • Develop new individual, foundation and corporate funder relationships.
  • Work with Consulting to identify and coordinate on new corporate prospects.
  • Implement a planned gift strategy with the Sr. Dir. Of Leadership Gift to include bequests, retirement plans, trusts, real estate and stock gifts.
  • Work with other development team members to ensure departmental fundraising goals are met.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications/Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 3 years of experience with major gifts work
  • Experience with planned gifts preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to personally solicit major gifts from identification to cultivation to solicitation to stewardship.
  • High level of motivation and assertiveness; self-starter.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (up to 50%).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly creative, flexible, adaptable.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive information and ability to discuss issues surrounding sexual violence.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).
  • Upon hire must provide proof of vaccine (COVID-19).

  • Must have vision correctable to a level where an individual can operate a computer, visualize text on a computer monitor.
