The development assistant will provide overall office support as well as direct support to the development team. Though supervised by the human resources director, the development assistant will work closely with the development manager and the RAINN interns. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage internal fundraising/ supporter database and donor records.
  • Process donor acknowledgements and other correspondence.
  • Thank donors through personal phone calls, emails and notes.
  • Answer email, phone and mail requests for information from the public.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and printed materials.
  • Answer membership emails and calls.
  • Conduct development-related research as necessary.
  • Assist development team in streamlining processes.
  • Assist with state registrations and campaigns, as needed.
  • Assist with management of quarterly financial documentation processes and audit preparation. 
  • Coordinate office events.
  • Assist with processing of accounts payable. 
  • Maintain office efficiency; coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Fulfill merchandise orders.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications/ Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Some college with at least two (2) years of experience in an office environment preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and balance quickly shifting priorities. 
  • Exemplary organizational skills.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly creative, flexible, adaptable and a self-starter.
  • Personal commitment to RAINN's mission and values. 
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive information and ability to discuss issues surrounding sexual violence.
  • Must complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Salesforce or other customer relationship management system a plus.
  • Experience with financial record-keeping a plus.

  • The person in this position needs to regularly move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • Must be able to get to locations outside of the office independently, without physical assistance.

  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (e.g., copier and fax machine).
  • Must have vision correctable to a level where individual can operate a computer; visualize text on a computer monitor.
