The Development Manager, Grants and Donor Engagement will have primary responsibility for developing foundation relationships, writing grant proposals, and helping to sustain and grow RAINN's budget through private and family foundations, federal grants and corporate partnerships to enhance RAINN's financial resources. The Development Manager will be responsible for supporting the VP of Development in all aspects of the grant application process – from letters of inquiry, working with RAINN leadership, writing/editing to submitting, tracking, and stewarding – of private and corporate foundations and federal grants and serve across departments as the central POC. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Development Manager, Grants and Donor Engagement has duties that include but are not limited to:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strong relationships with historical, new and potential funding partners.
  • Develop and maintain, in conjunction with Vice President of Development, grant application calendar for all grant requests.
  • Write foundation grant proposals and corporate partner solicitations.
  • Track established metrics as outlined in the annual development plan.
  • Research new funding partnerships and opportunities and update relevant data for proposals.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation to support grant expenses in conjunction with President/CEO, VP of Victim Services, Director of Research and VP of Development.
  • Ensure timely and accurate written and statistical impact reports to leadership and funders as requested.
  • Ongoing monitoring of grant budgets and expenditures to ensure targets are met.
  • Work with appropriate departments to gather data for reports and ensure that proper records are maintained.
  • Cross-departmental collaboration with department heads and all appropriate internal staff to ensure clear understanding of development needs and build concept opportunities for future funding.
  • Support the VP of Development in establishing and building a strong stewardship program for current supporters of RAINN across funding streams, including planned giving and in-kind contributions.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Position Specifications/Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years required of grant writing and management experience or membership/foundation relations work.
  • Proven track record in grant writing including but not limited to private and foundations, federal grants and funding requests.
  • Exceptional organization attention to detail.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Comfort building relationships and working with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of grants and grant administration systems, processes and budgeting.
  • Ability to prepare reports and correspondence and pull inferences from written material for key stakeholders.
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word). Experience with Salesforce preferred.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).
