As a key member of RAINN's Victim Services management team, the training director will be responsible for overseeing internal training strategy, development, and evaluation for RAINN hotline staff, specifically the Safe Helpline, the National Sexual Assault Hotline (NSAH), and private clients contracting with the NSAH. The ideal candidate will be proficient in adult learning models and familiar with service issues related to sexual violence to ensure that RAINN's online and in-person trainings achieve maximum impact. In an effort to onboard a quickly growing volunteer base, this person will lead efforts to optimize training delivery methodology wherever possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own end to end process for the RAINN Training Team, including management of all training related functions.  This includes, but is not limited to:  assessing training and organizational development needs, developing and designing training programs, conducting training sessions, and evaluating performance and effectiveness of training programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement and ensure that training material and methodology/delivery is consistent with best practices in the fields of crisis intervention and sexual violence prevention and response.
  • Create and deliver presentations to leadership and key stakeholders to provide status on all aspects of training program development, including business and needs identification, solution design, training methodologies, materials, and post-training outcomes and learning effectiveness.
  • Oversee efforts to diversify training delivery methodologies to ensure that they are equally accessible to in-person and remote staff and volunteers.
  • Manage training staff efforts to research, write, design, test, edit, launch and provide user support for all courses.
  • Identify and implement practices to measure training impact and help leaders ensure training is applied on the job.
  • Identify and implement improvements to learning solutions to enhance service impact and ensure trainings are meeting the intended and expected outcomes.
  • Ensure training standards for National Organization for Victim Assistance certification and CEU credits.
  • Oversee staff management of user accounts, technical issues and user experience on RAINN's online training account.
  • Mentor and develop the RAINN trainers to ensure training delivery and design meet business requirements and learner needs, including ensuring that all training staff understand how training goals align with RAINN's mission and that staff have access to required tools and information.
  • Implement traditional and creative project, product, and program management methodologies to achieve desired results including identification and collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts.
  • All other duties as assigned.


 Position Specifications/Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:


Required Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • Master's degree in Human Services or Education preferred with experience of no less than:
    • Three (3) years assessing training needs and creating, planning and evaluating education and training programs. Experience in the field of crisis intervention or call center operations a plus.
  • Proven track record of success in building, implementing and managing the full learning lifecycle, including needs analysis, training strategy, and development and delivery of training programs for field operations and office employees.
  • Must possess working knowledge of adult learning and development theory and instructional design.
  • This is a hands-on job that requires demonstrated proficiency in the principles of adult learning, needs assessment, training development, training delivery and evaluation of training effectiveness. Outstanding presence and communication skills and ability to inspire trust necessary.
  • Must have a strong customer service focus and ability to work well across departments and within a team managing towards targeted deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, written and oral.
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and deal with a wide range of situations.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when faced with complex decisions.
  • Resiliently positive and energetic attitude, with the ability to successfully work on a team and independently.
  • Willingness to work a non-traditional schedule, which will include some evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to work on-site at RAINN's office and to attend meetings there as required.
  • Must be comfortable discussing issues surrounding sexual violence.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).

  • Veterans will be given priority.
  • Crisis hotline/intervention experience.
  • Experience with military populations.
  • Experience using online learning platform.
